Visit to Chester

I’m determined to get out and about this year having missed so much over the past 2 or 3 years, so booked a 2 night stay for Patrick and me at a Travelodge in Chester. I’ve never been to Chester before but pictures I’ve seen show it to be a pretty place with lots of medieval architecture, with a city wall that you can walk around, a little like York I think.

The hotel was in a good central place, right opposite the ruins of a Roman amphitheatre and a short walk to the town centre with lots of shops, bars and restaurants. I was particularly interested in seeing The Rows which is a grid of streets with shops that are on two levels with galleried walkway around them at first floor level. I’m not a shopper as anyone who knows me will say but I just wanted to see the buildings and walk the galleries.

We also had a nice walk around the walls on our first evening but I think I must have been a bit squiffy because I actually couldn’t remember much about it the next day!
